Capturing One Moment at a Time

The last photo session I posted was  of Abby’s senior portraits.  Since then I have done 11 more photo shoots.  I am starting on the catch up tonight!

The Fath/Pence photo shoot was different than most of my photo shoots.  I am used to chasing around toddlers or trying to coax smiles out of babies.  This was an easy shoot compared to that and turned out some beautiful pictures.  Here are a few of my favorites.

This is probably my favorite from that shoot.

What a beautiful smile!

I always love pictures in the creek.

Another good one of the group.  They were so much fun to work with and so easy!

As always you can see more on Whitney Walsh Photography.

I promise I haven’t.  Things have been very busy.  First off, Whitney Walsh Photography has really been picking up.  Second, I am back to work (teaching) now.  Summer is over and the beginning of the school year is always the most hectic.  Things will settle back down soon and I promise I will start writing my blog again with some kind of regularity.

As far as my post a week goal for my blog and my weekly photo challenge resolution, I made it 31 weeks.  While my hope was to make it the whole 52 weeks, I just didn’t, or couldn’t.  I was exhausted from working at school, working for my photography business, being a wife and mother of a 2 year old, potty training, and general household chores.  Something had to give and it was those two things.  I know excuses, excuses!  ha ha!

I am disappointed in myself for not following through with my resolution, especially after making it over halfway!  Maybe I will try to catch up on my missed weekly photo challenge assignments and my blogs both about the challenge and my photo shoots for Whitney Walsh Photography.  I will definitely share some of my favorite portraits soon and share with you the exciting news of turning this little hobby into a real honest to goodness business, my very own business!  I have big plans in the works for Whitney Walsh Photography and I am very excited about what may come with the steps of making my business official!  It may never be a full time job, but as long as I love doing it (and I am breaking even), I will keep it going!

I feel very blessed to have a wonderful family and among them my little sis-in-law, Abby.  I always love when she comes in town to visit from North Carolina.  She is so laid back, easy going, and just fun to be around.  I will never forget when I first met Abby.  She was about two and  I had just started dating her brother.  She came running down the stairs to his room after her bath, not dressed yet, totally embarrassing Logan.  Although Logan was mortified, I thought she was absolutely adorable!  I feel very blessed to have been able to watch her grown from a little toddler into a young woman.  She is smart, works hard, and had a great head on her shoulders!  I know that graduation is just the first step in an amazing journey for her and I can’t wait to see what lies ahead in her life.  Alright, enough of that and on to the pictures.  It was a HOT day, even in the early morning, when we went outside to do some Senior Pictures for Abby.  I cannot tell you how much fun I had doing this session.  I always enjoy my photo sessions, but this was more than that, it was being able to spend time and do something for someone that means a lot to me.  Here are a few of my favorites from Abby’s Senior picture session.

Yep!  She’s smart, beautiful, and musically talented!

I think this one is my favorite, but it’s so hard to choose!

What guy wouldn’t like to see a girl like this walking towards them!

Easy boys, she is taken!

This is Abby’s favorite.

And I leave you with a beautiful smile!

Tyce is 2!

I had the pleasure of doing a portrait session with the adorable Tyce.  He was a little bit shy at first but through the session he came out of his shell and really showed his personality.  I had so much fun getting these shots of Tyce.  He is such a sweet kid!  Tyce and his beautiful mother Katrina, who I have had the pleasure of getting to know the last few months.

He can be such a serious little guy, but that is one cute little serious face!

Looking so handsome with that smile and those blue eyes!

Playing a little peek-a-boo!

Week 27 – Surprise

This weeks photo comes from one of my photo shoots this week.  I wish that I could tell you that I had more pictures to share with you for surprise, but I don’t.  I just happened to luck into a wonderful surprise look on Tyce’s face during his 2 year photo shoot.

Here is my photo for this weeks theme, surprise.

The next theme is Orange!  YAY for another color challenge!  They are my favorite!

I am very lucky to have so many great friends.  This week I am even luckier to get to introduce you to a few of my best friends!  Stephanie and Kyle brought little Mackenzie over for her three month photo shoot and a few family shots (and then dinner).  Of course she is a beautiful girl!  I met Kyle for the first time at the firehouse when he and my husband both lived there and were volunteer firefighters and EMTs.  I am sure he thought that we were both crazy, but we all became really great friends.  I met Stephanie shortly before Kyle left to join the Army.  I didn’t know her very well when he left, but my husband was in Iraq and I knew how it felt to have your significant other leave and Kyle had asked to to watch out for her while he was gone, so I invited her over.  She ended up staying with me that night and from then on we have been really great friends.  I cannot tell you how happy I was when they told us they were having a baby!  I was delighted when Stephanie asked if I would do her 3 month portraits.

Here are a few of my favorite from the session.  The Kingery Family.

Kyle is a proud daddy!  You can tell how much he adores Kenzie.

Steph is a great mommy, she is totally dedicated to her baby girl.

And just look at that sweet smile!  How can you not want to just pick her up and give her a cuddle!

You can see more of the Kingery Family & Kenzie 3 months photos on my website or click here to go directly to their gallery.  I gave my website a little makeover as well!  Let me know what you think!

An Arnold 4th of July

I had the pleasure of joining my friend and former co-worker at her husband’s family 4th of July party.  I had a lot of fun catching pictures of her two kids, Tristan and Isabella, as well as the other partygoers.  Here are a few of my favorite shots from the Arnold 4th of July party.

I tell you, I just can’t get enough of little Bella!

Tristan is such a good big brother!

Tristan was so proud to show me the car that he helped his Grandpa built!

You can see more pictures from the Arnold Family 4th of July on my website or click here to go directly to the gallery.

I had the joy of meeting up with an old college sorority sister and roommate.  She wanted pictures for her daughter, who it turns out was born the day after my daughter.  I hadn’t seen Jeanna in years and it was great catching up with her.  Laela is absolutely beautiful and I had a great time chasing her around outside with my camera, snapping away!  Here are a few of my favorites of the shoot.

That little crinkled up nose makes me smile!

Look at those pretty curls!

What a cutie!

I think this one is my favorite of the whole shoot.

You can see more of Laela on my website, Whitney Walsh Photography, or click here to go directly to Laela’s gallery.

This week’s topic really couldn’t have fallen at a better time of year.  There were a lot of opportunities for great nighttime shots on the 4th of July weekend.  Here are some of the shots I took this week.

And the shot for this week

Next week’s theme is surprise . . . until next week!

Week 26 – Distortion

This week I had no ideas.  Zip, zero, zilch.  So I took one of my favorite pictures I took this week and used photoshop to distort it.

My little family went for a hike at Charlestown State Park this week.  Lots of great nature on the 2.3 mile path.  We did not have a pack for Carissa but it was alright, she walked most of the way (she also hopped like a frog, crawled like a bear, and hitched a few rides on Daddy’s shoulders).  It takes an amazingly long time to hike 2.3 miles with a 23 month old (nearly 2 hours).

Here is my favorite photo from the hike.I am totally freaked out by spider, even this little guy really, but it just made too good of a picture to pass up.

And after a little photoshopping . . .

There you have it, distortion.  I actually think I like it better this way.

This is the halfway point in the weekly photo challenge.  I have to say that it feels good to be halfway and to know that I am sticking with my long term New Year’s resolution.

The next theme is nighttime.  Should be fun to get out and get some night shots!  :)  Thanks for reading!
